Meet Pauline

I have a background rooted in Australia, where I began my journey in mental health as a counsellor for Lifeline, which is akin to the Samaritans. My early 20s marked the foundation of my career in this field. As I progressed into my late 20s, I pursued training as a psychiatric nurse, deepening my understanding of mental health and care.

In the early 1990s, I committed to a three-year training program in psychodynamic therapy in Cambridge, allowing me to explore the intricacies of human behavior and emotions, and recently completed a Jungian 12 month course. My application of these skills has been diverse, ranging from supporting international aid workers to helping individuals facing homelessness and substance misuse. I have engaged with adults from ages 18 to 70 across various cultural backgrounds.

I find deep satisfaction in helping people from diverse backgrounds. Seeing personal growth and how individuals handle life’s challenges is truly rewarding. I hold a Master’s in Public Health, which shapes my interest in holistic well-being. To enhance my skills, I've taken various short courses, most recently focusing on Jungian theory. I’m now exploring mindfulness therapy and trauma. This allows me to offer a range of therapeutic methods that suit your needs.

If you're thinking about counseling, take time to consider why you want support and what you hope to achieve. It’s important to find a therapist you feel comfortable with. Feel free to reach out if you want to share your thoughts or ask questions.

About Therapy

Therapy with me is truly your space. Here, you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. I believe in the importance of nurturing a safe environment where you can bring any concerns related to your mental and emotional well-being.

Life can be challenging, and I understand the weight of personal struggles. Having faced my own demons, I have learned significantly from my experiences in therapy. This understanding allows me to offer you a respectful space to openly discuss any issues that cause you distress.

All sessions are confidential. In this space, you are free to talk about your experiences—both current and past. My role is to listen actively and reflect back what I hear, which can help you begin to unravel and understand the complexities of your emotions. As you gain insight, you may feel a sense of relief from the grip of your problems. This newfound understanding can empower you to make choices and instigate changes in your life that foster growth and well-being.

Therapy that works for you should leave you feeling more complete and accepting of yourself, enhancing your understanding of who you are. Together, we will navigate your journey toward a healthier, more fulfilling life. acceptance understanding and strength

Here is the simplified version of the text using fewer words but more understandable and common words:

I offer in-person, online, or phone sessions. Most people see me weekly or every two weeks, depending on your preference. The frequency can vary based on your individual needs and as we near the end of our work together.

You choose when you want to stop, and we'll have 1-2 final sessions to discuss your progress.

I respond to all inquiries to arrange a conversation about what you'd like. This is followed by a 50-minute introductory session for £25. Regular sessions are 50 minutes long and can be short-term or longer-term, depending on your reasons for seeking therapy and your goals.

Subsequent sessions are £50, with concessionary rates available based on your circumstances.

I have a private counselling room in Eynsham with free street parking and easy access.

 Counselling Aims To Help You:

Counselling Offers A Way Forward, It Allows:

A space to talk, to think, be heard and to be understood.

The opportunity to heal, to see oneself with more compassion.

To learn that you have much more good than you may have thought.

Encounter life's challenges with greater skills and knowledge.

Psychodynamic counselling put simply, recognises the role of the unconscious and how it influences our behaviour.

The Purpose Of Counselling:

The primary aim of counselling is to facilitate self-discovery, learning, and understanding, answering the question, "why do I do what I do?" This process leads to greater freedom and relief from conflict, allowing one to move forward with increased understanding and acceptance. It's about being comfortable with oneself, embracing that we are all "good enough." The objective is to feel complete, not to achieve perfection.

A psychodynamic approach encompasses the systematic knowledge and theory of human behaviour. It acknowledges the influence of the unconscious on our actions and delves into the past to understand its impact on us.
